ACHD Requests Exhaust Point Coordinates for 2004 Reporting Year |

Beginning with the 2004 Annual Emissions Inventory (AEI) the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) is requesting that exact geographic coordinates be provided for all major process exhaust stacks and vents within Allegheny County. These coordinates would be entered into the i-Steps emission reporting software in place of the plant’s coordinates used in previous reporting years. A major process exhaust stack or vent is a stack or vent that discharges emissions from a major process. A major process is a process that has the potential to exceed the major source thresholds on its own. This would include processes (or combustion units) that have, in and of themselves, a potential to emit either:
Coordinates need to be provided only for those exhaust stacks serving major processes at the facility, not every process or storage tank exhaust stack or vent. If a facility has multiple processes that are major emitters, then the coordinates for each exhaust stack or vent to which the processes discharge would need to be provided. To obtain the exact coordinates of the exhaust stack or vent, a portable Global Positioning System (GPS) instrument can be used. Readings should be taken at the base of the exhaust stack or vent for precise positioning.
